Wednesday, the 22-year-old Texas A&M grad finished second in the women’s 200-meter individual medley, her time of 2:10.84 less than a half-second back of Hungary’s Katinka Hosszu.
It’s been a busy few months for Pickrem, who won three bronze medals at last summer’s World Championships. The 2016 Olympian finished with the world’s fourth-fastest time in the 200 IM in 2019 and the fifth-fastest in the 400 IM, part of a rising tide of Canadian female swimmers.
Pickrem was third in the 200 breaststroke, third in the 200 IM and fourth in the 400 IM at Worlds. She was part of the medley relay, one of three Canadian bronze-winning squads. Pickrem finished sixth in the 200 IM and 12th in the 400 IM in Rio four years ago. She also competed in the inaugural International Swimming League season with the London Roar.
