Camryn Toney has elected to stay in state and swim for Texas A&M beginning next fall. Toney is from Frisco and swims for Texas Ford Aquatics.
Toney told Swimming World,
“I’m so incredibly excited! I knew it was the school for me the moment I stepped on campus! I can’t wait to be apart of such an amazing team! GIG EM!”
The high school senior is a versatile pick up for the Aggies. She is a strong IMer with great freestyle range and strong 200s of stroke. In eight different events she scores over 800 power points according to USA Swimming. Toney’s best yards times are:
- 400 IM 4:17.46
- 200 Free 1:49.99
- 500 Free 4:49.61
- 200 Back 2:02.27
- 200 Fly 2:02.79
This summer Toney was a finalist in the 400 IM at Junior Nationals where she posted a 4:53.76. She also earned USA Swimming Scholastic All-America honors this year.
Haley Yelle and Taylor Pike have also given the Aggies verbal commitments. Yelle is also a strong freestyler. While Pike’s best event is the 200 butterfly, she has a good mile and a history of Open Water success. The trio will deepen the Aggie’s mid-distance and distance freestyle crew. A&M won the women’s side of the SEC meet last year. Toney would have been a C finalist in the 400 IM.
I'm very excited & honored to announce my commitment to continue my swim and academic career at Texas A&M! #GigEm ❤️👍🏻 pic.twitter.com/u2ub34STKH
