Campbell Stoll, Scott Buff Double At NCSA Champs; Nate Germonprez Adds Third Title
Make it three titles for Nate Germonprez at the National Club Swimming Association Championships (NCSA), as the Texas recruit took gold on Saturday night in the 200-yard individual medley. Germonprez posted a time of 1:44.58 to finish more than a second clear of Josh Zuchowski, who checked in with a swim of 1:45.92.
Germonprez, who is among the top recruits in the country in the Class of 2023, placed first in the 100 breaststroke and 200 breaststroke earlier in the meet. Once he arrives at Texas, he figures to step into the lineup for the Longhorns as the replacement to Caspar Corbeau. Texas and Corbeau are currently preparing for next week’s NCAA Men’s Championships.
A terrific three-athlete battle emerged in the women’s 200 medley, where Campbell Stoll – also a Texas recruit – picked up a narrow win in 1:57.47. Stoll was slightly quicker than the 1:57.62 recorded by Campbell Chase and the 1:57.64 of Zoe Dixon. Showing her versatility, Stoll was also the champion of the 50 butterfly, as she sprinted to a mark of 23.26.
Scott Buff kept his roll going when he blazed to a performance of 20.54 in the 50 butterfly, an effort that bettered the 21.13 of Landon Gentry. He also nailed down a first-place finish in the 50 freestyle, with his time of 19.56 comfortably beating the 19.97 of runnerup Samuel Bork.
In the women’s 50 freestyle, Lucy Thomas won by the slightest margins over Camille Spink. Thomas stopped the clock in 22.41, with Spink going 22.42.
