Cali Freestyler Aya Ferguson Hands 2026 Verbal To Northwestern
NEW COMMIT: Northwestern University has picked up a new verbal commitment for 2026 from U.S. Open qualifier and freestyle specialist Aya Ferguson of San Diego, California.
She will join Iris Kim in Evanston as a member of the Wildcats’ Class of 2030.
She told Swimming World:
“I am extremely excited to announce my verbal commitment to continue my D1 swimming and academic career at Northwestern University! I want to express gratitude for my family and friends for supporting me throughout this journey and give a special thanks to Coach Rachel, Coach Eddie and the rest of the Northwestern swimming coaching staff as well as Coach Joe, Coach Brandon and RSD. I feel truly honored and am looking forward to my collegiate career! GO WILDCATS”
Ferguson does her club swimming with Rancho San Dieguito and finished 10th in the 200m free and 11th in the 100m free this past summer at Sacramento Futures. Last short course season, she had seven top-10 finishes at the SI Winter Age Group Championships in December.
Her best times include:
- 50 free – 23.68
- 100 free – 50.71
- 200 free – 1:49.63
Currently a junior at Torrey Pines High School, Ferguson raced to 10th in the 100 free at the 2024 CIF State Championships. She won both the 100 free and 200 free at the CIF San Diego Section Championships a week prior.
