Cal State Northridge Signs Andrews
NORTHRIDGE, Calif., Dec. 9. COACH Barry Schreifels announced today that the Cal State Northridge
women's swimming team has signed Lauren Andrews (Palo Cedro, CA/Shasta Secondary Home School) to a national letter of intent.
"We are very pleased to sign Lauren," Schreifels said.
"She is a terrific swimmer, a great student and one of a group of excellent recruits that we are beginning to attract to our program."
Andrews specializes in the freestyle and backstroke events. Her best high school times include a 2:03.66 in the 200 backstroke, which matches the current Cal State Northridge all-time record in that event.
Andrews' other high school bests are: 100 backstroke, 59.2; 50 freestyle, 24.11; 100 freestyle, 52.16; 200 freestyle, 1:53.08.
"Lauren is a very versatile swimmer and she will have the opportunity to swim in many different events here at Northridge," Schreifels said. "She will make an immediate impact on all our relays and we believe she has the potential to score at the NCAA Championship level," he added.
