Cal Adds Verbal Commitment From CIF Section Champ Chris Jhong

NEW COMMIT: Pleasanton, California’s Chris Jhong has verbally committed to the University of California- Berkeley, according to an update on his CollegeSwimming profile.

Jhong is a rising senior at Amador Valley High School. He swims for Pleasanton Seahawks where he is a strongest in IM and mid-distance freestyle.

His best times are:

  • 200 IM 1:47.34
  • 400 IM 3:50.87
  • 200 Free 1:39.76
  • 500 Free 4:25.45

At the 2017 California High School North Coast Section Championships Jhong dominated the 200 IM in 1:48.73. He was runner up in the 200 IM at the State Championships.

At the 2017 Pac-12 Championships Jhong would have been a B finalist in the 500 freestyle and 400 IM and a C finalist in the 200 IM.

Reece Whitley is also verbally committed to Cal’s Class of 2022.
