Caeleb Dressel Ties the Knot With High School Sweetheart Meghan Haila Over Weekend
Multi-world record holder Caeleb Dressel tied the knot with his high school sweetheart Meghan Haila over the weekend with the couple posting still shots from their wedding on social media. The couple, who both swam for the Bolles School Sharks club team, announced their engagement in November 2019, and used the COVID quarantine to plan the wedding, utilizing the time at home to plan their future together.
Meghan Haila has been dating Dressel since the couple were teenagers when they swam for the same club team. She swam with Caeleb’s older sister Kaitlyn for one season at Florida State in 2015, and also completed her Masters and Specialist degrees in Marriage and Family Therapy/Counseling, with the additional coursework for Mental Health Counseling and Play Therapy at the University of Florida, according to her LinkedIn page.
Dressel is on a trajectory to become one of the stars of the swimming showcase at the Olympic Games this July in Tokyo, barring any cancellation of the global event. Since claiming two golds in relays at Rio 2016, Dressel, coached by Gregg Troy, has claimed seven solo and six relay World long-course titles, claiming gold in the 50 and 100m freestyle and 100m butterfly in 2017 and then retaining all those and adding the 50m butterfly crown in 2019.
He also holds the short course meters world record in the 50 free, the 50 and 100 fly, and the non-Olympic 100 IM.
