NEW COMMIT: The University of Wisconsin has picked up a verbal commitment for the 2024-25 season and beyond from Junior National qualifier Avery Hawker of Tampa, Florida.

She told Swimming World:

“I’m excited to announce my commitment to The University of Wisconsin!  I want to thank all of my coaches, friends, and family who made this possible, and the Wisconsin staff for offering me this opportunity. Go Badgers!”

Hawker, who does her club swimming with Tampa Elite Aquatics, specializes in butterfly. She placed 16th in the 50 fly, 17th in the 200 fly and 20th in the 100 fly at the NCSA Championships back in the spring after taking third in the 200m fly and ninth in the 10m fly at Orlando Sectionals.

Her best times include:

  • 50 fly – 24.76
  • 100 fly – 54.18
  • 200 fly – 1:59.52
  • 200 IM – 2:07.16
  • 500 free – 5:01.88

A rising senior at Robinson High School, Hawker placed second in the 100 fly and third in the 500 free at the 2022 Florida 2A State Championships. She earned silver in both the 100 fly and 100 breast during her sophomore season.
