British Trials, Day 2 Finals: Joshua Gammon Dominates 200 Fly But Misses Paris Cut
Joshua Gammon led throughout to win the 200 fly at the British trials but was outside the cut for Paris 2024.
The Bath University swimmer was 0.37secs ahead of Thomas Beeley at halfway before moving clear to finish in 1:56.94 as he defended his title.
It was close to a two-second PB for Gammon but fell short of the qualification time of 1:54.97 for the Olympics in the French capital come July.
Joe Roebuck and Rob Pavoni – in the stands at the Aquatics Centre in his role as head coach of Plymouth Leander – were the last British men to compete in the 200 fly at the Olympics.
The pair were joint 17th and 20th respectively at London 2012 with Roebuck missing the semis by 0.02.
Beeley was second in 1:59.65 with Henry Gray third in 2:00.97.
Andrew Bertoli took fourth in 2:01.26 followed by Patrick Braddock (2:01.33), James Woodward (2:01.43), Rhys Edwards (2:01.72) and Thomas Sansome (2:02.79).
