British Swimming Announces 2016 FINA SC World Champs Roster
British Swimming has named a 16-member team who will compete at the upcoming 2016 FINA Short Course World Championships, which will be held in Windsor, Canada in early December.
Head coach Bill Furniss will be at the helm for the World Championships and anticipates some great racing as the new quadrennial begins. Coach Furniss explained in a press release by British Swimming that “the meet provides a good opportunity early in the cycle to build positive team culture and behaviours and work on short course skills,” adding that “the team is a mixture of some of our established Olympians and younger swimmers who will benefit from exposure to the world stage as they prepare for the next Olympic cycle.”
The roster is highlighted by Rio Olympic medalists Stephen Milne and Dan Wallace. Milne commented that he’s “happy to be back on the team and looking forward to getting back to racing. This will be my first major international 25m championships and it will be good to test my skills in that arena. We have another strong team heading to Canada and it will be an exciting way to end the year.”
