British Mixed Medley Relay Quartet Receive FINA Certificate For Tokyo World Record
The British 4×100 mixed medley relay squad have been presented with the FINA certificate marking the world record of 3:37.58 they set en-route to Olympic gold.
The quartet of Kathleen Dawson, Adam Peaty, James Guy and Anna Hopkin claimed the inaugural title in Tokyo ahead of China and Australia.
The presentation was made during the British Championships – which double as trials for the World Championships in June – at Ponds Forge, Sheffield.
Hopkin, who finished seventh in the 100 free last July, told Swimming World:
“My mum and dad are here, they obviously couldn’t watch me live at the Olympics. For them to see that presentation will mean a lot.
“They were gutted they couldn’t be out there, they’d have 100 per cent been there. So it’s nice they can feel a part of it here now.”
