Brigham Young Adds Verbal From Talented IMer Tyler Edlefsen
NEW COMMIT: Las Vegas, Nev. native Tyler Edlefsen has given his verbal commitment to Brigham Young University and will join the Cougars in the fall of 2019.
Edlefsen swims year-round with Sandpipers of Nevada and owns a pair of Winter National standards with a U.S. Open cut in the 200m breast. He capped off an extremely successful long course season with 100% lifetime bests and two gold medals at Western Zone Seniors. Swimming for Palo Verde High School, Edlefsen won the 200 IM and was the 100 breast runner-up as a junior at the Nevada 4A State Championships. He has also earned NISCA All-American honors for his efforts.
He told Swimming World:
“I’m so excited to announce my verbal commitment to BYU. I have so much appreciation to my coaches, teammates, family and friends for supporting me. Brigham Young University has amazing coaching staff and a welcoming team environment. Can’t wait to be a Cougar!!”
His best times include:
- 200 IM – 1:50.40
- 400 IM – 3:59.44
- 100 breast – 58.71
- 200 breast – 2:06.37
When he suits up for the Cougars as a member of the class of 2023, Edlefsen will add valuable depth to an IM training group that is led by Tamaalelagi Tuitama. He would’ve scored in the B-final of both IMs at the 2018 MPSF Championships where Brigham Young finished third overall in the team standings.
