Breaststroker Masha Prima Lends Verbal to NJCAA Champions Indian River State College
NEW COMMIT: Breaststroker Masha Prima of Fairfax, Va. has announced her verbal commitment to Indian River State College and will arrive in Fort Pierce, Fla. in the fall of 2021.
She told Swimming World:
“I chose IRSC because they have such a diverse swim team as well as an amazing swim program. They offer my major, and as soon as I spoke with Coach Manny and Coach Brinn, I instantly knew I wanted to swim for them.”
Prima does her club swimming with Shark Tank Racing Squad and most recently placed 16th in the 200 breast and 17th in the 100 breast at Potomac Valley Seniors in March. Last summer, she recorded two best times at Potomac Valley LCM Seniors before going on to register a pair of top-10 finishes at the PVS LCM 13&O Championships.
Her best times include:
- 50 breast – 30.11
- 100 breast – 1:04.91
- 200 breast – 2:22.96
- 200 IM – 2:09.80
Also competing for Robinson Secondary School, Prima is a six-time Virginia Class 6 State Championship finalist. She finished 11th in the 100 breast and 16th in the 200 IM as a junior while taking 15th and 14th, respectively, in those events during her sophomore season.
She also collected gold in both of those events at the VHSL Class 6A High School Regional meet in 2020.
Indian River State College successfully defended their streak of national championship titles by winning the 2020 NJCAA Championships – their 42nd overall in program history.
