Breaststroker Maddie Moreth Hands 2026 Verbal To Florida Gators

NEW COMMIT: Olympic Trials qualifier Maddie Moreth of Valparaiso, Indiana, has handed a 2026 verbal commitment to the University of Florida. She’s the first public verbal for the Gators so far.

Regarding her commitment, she said:

“I am so grateful and excited to announce my verbal commitment to pursue both my academic and swimming goals at the University of Florida! Thank you to my family, teammates, and coaches for all of your continued support! Thank you to Coach Nesty, all of the other coaches, and the team for this incredible opportunity! Go Gators!”

A breaststroker, Moreth does her club swimming with Valparaiso Swim Club. She raced both breaststroke events at Olympic Trials this past summer before going on to take sixth and eighth, respectively, in those events at Speedo Summer Championships.

Last winter, Moreth raced to 17th in the 200 breast and 18th in the 100 breast at Juniors East. She then took 10th in both events at Indianapolis Sectionals.

Her best times include:

  • 100 breast – 1:01.58
  • 200 breast – 2:13.96

Currently a junior at Valparaiso High School, Moreth earned silver in the 100 breast at the 2024 Indiana State Championships. She placed 13th in that event as a freshman in 2023.

The Gators are the two-time defending Southeastern Conference champions.
