Breaststroker Katya Ivanov Stays In State With 2024 Verbal Pledge To Wolfpack
NEW COMMIT: NC State University has picked up a new verbal commitment for the 2024-25 season and beyond from in-state standout and U.S. Open qualifier Katya Ivanov of Apex, N.C.
She will join Lily Christianson and Erika Pelaez in Raleigh as a member of the Wolfpack’s Class of 2028.
She told Swimming World:
“I am super excited to announce my verbal commitment to NC State University to continue my academic and swim careers! I am forever grateful for my dedicated coaches, supportive parents, and awesome friends and teammates. A huge thank you to the Wolfpack family for giving me this opportunity of a lifetime. GOPACK!!”
Ivanov does her club swimming with TAC Titans and placed seventh in the 200m breast, 13th in the 400m IM and 14th in the 100m breast at Cary Futures this past summer. Back in March, she earned silver in both the 100 breast and 200 breast at Cary Sectionals after racing to 15th in the 200 breast at Juniors East.
Her best times include:
- 100 breast – 1:02.33
- 200 breast – 2:13.97
- 200 IM – 2:01.48
Currently a junior at Apex High School, Ivanov placed third in the 100 breast and fourth in the 200 IM at the 2022 North Carolina 4A State Championships. She took sixth in the 100 breast during her freshman season.
