Breaststroker Emma Glover of Cheshire Y Sea Dog Swim Club Announces Verbal Commitment to Maine
NEW COMMIT: Breaststroker Emma Glover of Cheshire, Conn. has announced her verbal commitment to the University of Maine and will arrive in Orono in the fall of 2021.
She told Swimming World:
“I’m super excited to announce my verbal commitment to continue my academic and swimming career at the University of Maine! Thank you to my parents and everyone who have supported and helped me along the way! Go Black Bears!!”
Glover trains year-round with Cheshire Y Sea Dog Swim Club and placed 10th in the 200m breast at the CT LCM SR Invitational in March. She had a great showing at Connecticut Seniors in February, earning three best times and posting a ninth-place finish in the 100 breast.
Her best times include:
- 50 breast – 31.74
- 100 breast – 1:06.94
- 200 breast – 2:25.81
- 200 IM – 2:13.93
- 50 free – 25.92
- 100 free – 56.91
Also competing for Cheshire High School, Glover placed 19th in the 100 breast and 24th in the 200 IM at the Connecticut State Open Championships during her junior season. A week prior, she finished fourth and 17th, respectively, in those events at the CIAC Class Championships.
Glover will make a big impact in the Black Bears’ breaststroke group when she suits up as a member of the Class of 2025. She would’ve scored in the B-final of both the 100 and 200 breast at the 2020 America East Championships where Maine finished fifth overall in the team standings.
