Breaststroker Emily Santos Hands Verbal To Virginia Tech Hokies
NEW COMMIT: Breaststroker Emily Santos of Montverde, Florida, has pledged her verbal commitment for the 2024-25 season and beyond to Virginia Tech.
She will join Amanda Adair and Delaney Bookstein as a member of the Hokies’ Class of 2028.
She told Swimming World:
“I’m happy to join such an amazing team of coaches and athletes who always strive to be the very best.”
Santos trains year-round with Montverde Aquatic Club. She placed 10th in the 50 breast and 200 breast as well as 11th in the 100 breast at the NCSA Championships this past spring, after racing to 18th in the 100 breast at Juniors East.
While representing the Panamanian Swimming Federation, Santos earned silver in the 200m breast and took fourth in both the 50m breast and 200m breast at the XXIIII Juegos CAC Games in June. She also raced the 100m and 200m breast at the FINA World Championships last summer.

- 100 breast – 1:01.92
- 200 breast – 2:15.21
- 100m breast – 1:10.99
- 200m breast – 2:35.61
A rising senior at Montverde Academy, Santos collected bronze in the 100 breast at the Florida 1A State Championships last year. She finished fifth in 2021 and third in 2020.
