Brad Tandy confirmed his spot on the Rio Olympic squad with a 22.13 for the top time in the men’s 50-meter free today.
Doug Erasmus, meanwhile, missed the FINA A cut of 22.27 with a second-place time of 22.55.
Olympic gold medalist Roland Schoeman, who scratched out of the 100 free and a potential spot on the 400 free relay, was unable to lock down an Olympic spot with a third-place time of 22.75. That guarantees that Schoeman will not make a fifth Olympic Games squad.
Reynard Wessells was the fourth finisher, also clearing 23 seconds with a fourth-place 22.92.
