Boston College Sweeps Cross-Town Rival Boston University
In a matchup between two colleges located about three miles apart, the Eagles of Boston College emerged victorious over the Terriers of Boston University. The meet took place on Saturday at Boston College.

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – The Boston College swim and dive team capped its Senior Day with wins over cross-town rival Boston University, Saturday at the Margot Connell Recreation Center. The women’s team earned 192 points to the Terriers’ 107 while the men won with a 176-112 final score.
MEN’S HIGHLIGHTS
- Freshman Dale Nickerson won the 3-meter dive, earning 275.70 points. He also took the top spot in the 1-meter dive with a score of 257.90.
- Sam Roche, Sami Fares, Matt Clark and Damion Geoghegan Ribeiro placed first in the 200 yard medley relay, finishing in 1:31.21.
- Zachary Szmania won the 1000 yard freestyle with a 9:30.02 finish.
- Clark placed first in the 200 yard freestyle, finishing in 1:39.47.
- Roche took the top spot in the 100 yard backstroke with a 49.90 performance.
- Fares placed first in the 100 yard breaststroke with a 57.64 finish.
- Geoghegan Ribeiro (21.17) and Michael Hinton (21.35) placed first and second in the 50 yard freestyle.
- Clark (45.54), Geoghegan Ribeiro (47.08) and Max Threlkeld (47.11) swept the top three finishes in the 100 yard freestyle.
- Colin O’Leary placed first in the 200 yard backstroke with a time of 1:51.15.
- Peter Shepanzyk earned the top spot in the 200 yard breaststroke, finishing in 2:06.50.
- Matt Szekely won the 200 yard individual medley with a 1:56.30 finish.
- Clark, Roche, Hinton and Threlkeld combined for a first-place finish in the 400 yard freestyle relay with a 3:04.48 finish.
WOMEN’S HIGHLIGHTS
- The team of Maura Grimes, Taylor Covington, Victoria Lin and Haley Dolan combined for a 1:44.06 first-place finish in the 200 yard medley relay.
- Lin (2:04.21), Lindsey Ryalls (2:05.17) and Mary Kate Gannon (2:07.46) swept the top three finishes in the 200 yard butterfly.
- Dolan (23.35), Sofia Zinis (23.65) and Ali Kea (23.92) placed first through third in the 50 yard freestyle.
- Kate Cilley won the 1-meter dive with a 243.10 score while Mackenna Buchanan (237.90) and Ellie Uhl (235.85) earned second and third place, respectively.
- Nicole Barkemeyer won the 200 yard backstroke with a time of 2:05.70 while Michaela McGearyplaced second with a 2:05.81 performance.
- Alexa Lantin won the 200 yard breaststroke with a time of 2:18.62.
- Ryalls (5:01.27) and Kristina Fecarotta (5:06.34) placed first and second in the 500 yard freestyle.
- Lin (56.11) and Gannon (56.42) placed first and second in the 100 yard butterfly.
- The team of Zinis, Ashleigh Scott, Kea and Dolan placed first in the 400 yard freestyle relay, finishing in 3:27.46.

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – Returning to the pool for the spring semester, the Boston University men’s swimming & diving was outdone by crosstown rival Boston College, 176-112, Saturday afternoon at the Connell Center.
Stuart Vickery recorded a pair of individual wins on the afternoon, taking the top spot in the 200 fly (1:49.81) as well as the 100 fly (50.17). Sarsen Whatmore also accounted for a first-place finish as he won the 500 free (4:33.87).
BU will return to action Saturday, Feb. 1 for a 1 p.m. dual meet at Army West Point.

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – Resuming its season for the spring semester, the Boston University women’s swimming & diving team fell to crosstown rival Boston College, 192-107, Saturday afternoon at the Connell Center.
Newcomer Sezin Eligul had a standout day in her Terrier debut, winning both the 100 back (56.79) and the 100 free (51.97). Four other Terriers topped the podium on the day as Joanna McNulty won the 1000 free (10:32.98), Sydney Leetook the 200 free (1:51.68), Carly Soares captured the 100 breast (1:05.17) and Katherine Russack won the 3-meter dive (275.17).
BU will return to action Saturday, Feb. 1 for a 1 p.m. dual meet at Army West Point.
