Bobby Finke Talks Scooter Accident & Second National Title (VIDEO INTERVIEW)
After finally winning his first National title in the men’s 1500 free, Bobby Finke is now two-for-two in National titles after also winning the 400 IM. Unlike many other athletes, Finke finds the 400 IM to be a short race and a bit of a sprint for him (in comparison to the 1500). Finke was trailing teen Carson Foster for the majority of the race, but turned on the jets for the final 100 and utilized his distance free endurance to propel himself to victory.
When asked which victory means the most to him, Finke finds the 1500 victory to mean the most to him because he has been waiting for it for so long.
Prior to his busy summer, Finke had injured his wrist in a scooter accident that required him to wear a cast from May 24th to July 19th. He had to wear a full waterproof cast to practice in and he credits that experience with building his mental stamina.
