Blue Devils Get Another Verbal, Add Breaststroker Addison Bitel For 2026
NEW COMMIT: Duke University has earned another verbal commitment for the 2026-27 season and beyond from U.S. Open qualifier Addison Bitel of Windermere, Florida.
She will join sprinter Riley Anderson in Durham as a member of the Blue Devils’ Class of 2030.
She told Swimming World:
“I am beyond excited to announce my verbal commitment to pursue my academic and athletic career at Duke University! I want to thank my family, friends, coaches, and all the amazing people I’ve met throughout this process. A very special thank you to the coaches at Duke for this incredible opportunity! I can’t wait! #gobluedevils”
Her best times include:
- 50 breast – 29.26
- 100 breast – 1:01.86
- 200 breast – 2:17.92
Currently a junior at Windermere Prep, Bitel earned bronze in the 100 breast at the 2023 Florida 1A State Championships as a sophomore. She took ninth in that event as a sophomore.
She is also a two-time USA Swimming Scholastic All-American and a NISCA All-American.
Even with two years of club swimming still to go before suiting up for the Blue Devils, Bitel would’ve ranked fourth on Duke’s roster in the 100 and 200 breast a season ago.
