Big Ten Weekly Honors: Brady Samuels, Mackenzie McConagha Lead Awards

The Big Ten Conference has announced this week’s Men’s Swimming and Diving Weekly Awards for the week of Nov. 1-7.

Big Ten Swimmer of the Week
Brady Samuels, Purdue

Jr. – Muncie, Ind. – Delta – Major: Selling & Sales Management

  • Won the 100 Free (43.22), 200 Free (1:36.57), and 100 Back (46.68), while participating in three winning relay efforts
  • Achieved NCAA B Cut times in the 100 Free and 100 Back, posting the 17th best and 19th best times in the country, respectively.
  • Garners his third Swimmer of the Week honor
  • Last Purdue Swimmer of the Week: Brady Samuels (Jan. 12, 2022)

Big Ten Diver of the Week
YuTong Wang, Minnesota

Fr. – Beijing, China – Beijing Diving Club – Major: Sports Management

  • Swept the diving events in Friday’s meet against Wisconsin
  • Posted NCAA Zone scores of 348.83 (1-meter) and 401.70 (3-meter)
  • Earns second Diver of the Week award
  • Last Minnesota Diver of the Week: YuTong Wang (Oct. 18, 2023)

Big Ten Freshman of the Week
Pat Broderick, Purdue

Fr. – Manhasset, N.Y. – Manhasset Secondary – Major: Exploratory Studies

  • Posted the nation’s ninth fastest time this season in the 1,650 Free with a victorious time of 15:41.30
  • Earns his first Freshman of the Year honor
  • Last Purdue Freshman of the Week: Jordan Rzepka (Feb. 1, 2022)

  • Helped Wisconsin advance to 4-0 after beating No. 24 Minnesota
  • Earns her third career Big Ten Women’s Swimmer of the Week award
