PHILADELPHIA – Mercersburg Academy celebrated two wins at the 2015 Eastern Interscholastic championships from Ben Carter and Brandon McCredie, and the two talk about their victories in this video interview.
Carter won the 50 freestyle from lane one, and he talked about fixing his race strategy in the event between prelims and finals. One event later, McCredie won the 100 butterfly and said he got an extra motivational boost seeing his teammate win the splash-and-dash. McCredie said he was ecstatic to break 50 seconds twice in the 100 butterfly, the result of hard work in the pool all season.
Carter is looking forward to defending his 50 free title next year, saying that he’ll be training hard in the summer. McCredie will be prepping for life at West Point next fall, and he credits the work he’s done at Mercersburg Academy as perfect preparation for the next chapter in his life.
Didn’t McCredie swim in the Pennsylvania PIAA State meet last year (2014) as a Senior for Council Rock North? And I am sure I saw him swim at the 2013 PIAA State meet as an 11th grader for CRN. Did something happen at Council Rock North causing him to switch to Mercersburg for a 5th year of High School swimming?
