CHATTANOOGA – Baylor’s Christian Selby and Science Hill’s Daniel Chang each took down a short course meter national high school record during a dual meet today in Chattanooga.
In a contest where Baylor head coach Dan Flack said that everyone was unrested and unshaved, both teams still managed to put up some fast times.
Chang put up a 1:02.54 in the 100-meter breast. That swim eclipsed the 1:02.63 national independent school record set by Chuck Katis for Langley High in 2011, and is the overall mark as Nic Fink holds the independent school record with a 1:02.63 as well for The Pingry School in 2011.
Selby, meanwhile, raced his way to a 23.32 in the 50-meter freestyle. The swim clipped the national independent school mark of 23.33 set by Peddie’s Jeremy Wong back in 2011. Kyle Bubolz still holds the overall and public school mark with a 22.61 while swimming for Waukesha North in 2004.
