Baylor Swim Club’s Avery Wilson Pledges Verbal Commitment to Marshall

NEW COMMIT: Chattanooga, Tenn. native Avery Wilson has pledged her verbal commitment to Marshall University and will join the Herd as a member of the class of 2024.
Wilson swims year-round with Baylor Swim Club and most recently recorded a best time at Greensboro Futures this past summer after finishing 16th in the 50m fly at the Southeastern LCM Championships. Last winter, she notched 100% best times at NCSAs where she competed in four different events. Also competing for Baylor School, Wilson placed 14th in the 100 fly during both her sophomore and junior seasons at the TISCA State Championships.
She told Swimming World:
“I am so excited to announce my verbal commitment to continue my academic and athletic career at Marshall University! I would like to thank my family, friends, and coaches who have supported me along the way! I can’t wait to be a part of this amazing team for the next 4 years! GO HERD!”
Her best times include:
- 100 fly – 57.17
- 200 fly – 2:06.52
- 50 free – 24.71
- 100 free – 54.74
- 200 free – 1:57.72
Wilson will make an immediate impact when she arrives on campus at the start of the 2020-21 season as her best times already rank near the top of their lineup. She would’ve scored in the B-final of the 100 fly and 200 fly at the 2019 Conference USA Championships where Marshall finished fourth overall in the team standings.
