Badger Aquatic Club’s Maeve O’Driscoll Verbally Commits to Minnesota for 2020
NEW COMMIT: The University of Minnesota has gained a new verbal commitment for the 2020-21 season and beyond from Madison, Wis. native and current high school junior Maeve O’Driscoll.
Primarily a sprint freestyler, O’Driscoll does her club swimming with Badger Aquatic Club and most recently competed at Rochester Speedo Sectionals where she finished 16th in the 50 free after placing 14th in that event at the Wisconsin SCY Championships. This past summer, she took 13th in the splash-and-dash and notched a trio of best times at the Wisconsin LCM Championships.
Also competing for Madison Edgewood High School, O’Driscoll is a five-time Wisconsin DII State Championship finalist. She finished sixth in both the 50 free and 100 free as a junior after placing second and fifth, respectively, in those events during her sophomore season.
She told Swimming World:
“I am extremely excited to announce my verbal commitment to continue my academic & swimming career at the University of Minnesota!Thank you to my coaches, friends, & family for all their support & thank you to the Minnesota coaching staff for giving me this amazing opportunity! #gogophers”
Her best times include:
- 50 free – 23.84
- 100 free – 53.12
O’Driscoll will add valuable sprint depth when she suits up for the Golden Gophers as a member of the class of 2024. Although she’s not in scoring range just yet at the Big Ten Championships, she has continuously made improvements each season with over a year to go before arriving at Minnesota.
