Backstroker Emily Brown of SwimMAC Carolina Hands Eastern Michigan First 2021 Verbal
NEW COMMIT: Eastern Michigan University has received their first verbal commitment for the 2021-22 season and beyond from Charlotte, N.C. native Emily Brown, who announced her decision via College Swimming.
Regarding her commitment, she said:
“I am beyond excited to announce my verbal commitment to continue to swim and study at Eastern Michigan University! Thank you to my friends, family, and coaches who have believed in me since day 1! I’m so excited to see what my future as an eagle holds! Go eagles!!”
A talented backstroker, Brown does her club swimming with SwimMAC Carolina and is a Junior National qualifier. She most recently competed at North Carolina Seniors where she earned bronze in the 100/200 back combo after racing those events at Juniors East. Last summer, she raced to seventh in both the 100m and 200m back at NC LCM Seniors.
Her best times include:
- 50 back – 26.94
- 100 back – 55.78
- 200 back – 2:00.19
Also competing for Ardrey Kell High School, Brown has competed at the North Carolina 4A State Championships the last three years. She placed 10th in the 100 back as a junior while taking seventh in that event during her sophomore season.
She would’ve scored in the B-final of the 100 back and 200 back at the 2020 MAC Championships where Eastern Michigan finished third overall in the team standings.
