Backstroker Elisabeth Erlendsdottir Selects Georgia Tech

NEW COMMIT: Georgia Tech has secured a new verbal commitment for the 2024-25 season and beyond from Elisabeth Erlendsdóttir of the Faroe Islands, part of the Kingdom of Denmark.

She trains with Bolles School in Florida.

Regarding her commitment, she said:

“I’m very excited to announce my verbal commitment to continue my academic and swimming career at Georgia Tech! I would like to thank my family, my coaches and my teammates for supporting me through out this journey. I also want to thank the coaching staff at Georgia Tech for giving me this amazing opportunity!”

A backstroker, Erlendsdóttir was one of just two Faroese swimmers who competed at the 2023 World Championships. She raced the 50m back and 200m back.

She also competed in backstroke events at Juniors East in December as well as Junior Nationals earlier this month.

Internationally, she has also competed at the European Junior Championships in 2021 and 2022 as well as at the 2021 FINA Short Course Worlds in Abu Dhabi.

Her best times include:

  • 100 back – 54.90
  • 200 back – 1:59.30
  • 50 back – 25.60
  • 100 free – 52.41

Now a senior at Bolles School, Erlendsdóttir placed seventh in the 100 back and 10th in the 100 free at the Florida 1A State Championships in 2022.
