Courtney Chapin has given her verbal commitment to Ohio University. Chapin, who swims for the Sarasota YMCA in Florida, is a backstroke specialist.
Chapin told Swimming World, “I want to thank my parents, coaches, siblings, and friends for endless support and encouragement over the years. I’m beyond thrilled to further my swimming and education at Ohio. Go bobcats!!”
Chapin’s best times are:
- 50 Back: 26.66
- 100 Back: 56.25
- 200 Back: 2:04.47
- 50 Free: 24.34
- 100 Free: 53.02
Swimming for Lakewood Ranch Senior High School, Chapin was the Florida 4A High School runner up in the 100 backstroke last season (56.25).
Ohio finished sixth at the 2016 Mid-American Conference Championships. Chapin would have just snuck into last year’s B final in the 100 backstroke and just missed a second swim in the 200. The Bobcats’ backstrokers were led by juniors Laura Dawson, Myriah Ariza-Balter, and Kelse Johnson.
