The University of Missouri has added another swimmer to the 2017-2018 roster after picking up a verbal commitment from Amanda Smith.
She shared,
“I am very excited to be a swimming at Mizzou next year! I chose Missouri because I felt at home and loved everything about it. I have an old teammate already there, and I look forward to training with my new team!”
Smith swims for the Northern Kentucky Clippers where she is a great backstroker. Her best times are:
- 50 Back 25.86
- 100 Back 54.73
- 200 Back 1:55.45
- 200 Free 1:49.31
- 200 IM 2:02.30
- 400 IM 4:18.94
Smith is a multiple time NCSA Junior Nationals finalist. This spring she finished runner up in the 200 backstroke with her lifetime best time. In 2014 at the long course meet she placed sixth in the 100 back (1:03.92).
Last year, Smith would have been an SEC Championships B finalist in the 200 backstroke. Mizzou’s Hannah Stevens, who went onto have a successful summer, led the way in that heat. She’ll be a senior when Smith get to Columbia. In the 100 back, she would have finished as first alternate.
Sammie Jo Porter, Lauren Savoy, Caitlin Clements, and diver Amber Brickey have also committed to Missouri.
