Backstroker Abby Reich Verbally Commits To Army West Point
NEW COMMIT: The United States Military Academy has secured a new verbal commitment for Fall 2025 from Futures qualifier Abby Reich out of Phoenix, Arizona. She specializes in backstroke.
She will join Amelia Lester and Elle Burke as a member of the Black Knights’ Class of 2029.
Regarding her commitment, she said:
“I am so excited to announce my verbal commitment to continue my academic and athletic career at the United States Military Academy! I am so appreciative to all of the friends, family, and coaches who help me get here, and to the coaches at West Point for giving me this opportunity. I can’t wait to serve my country and join the long grey line! GO ARMY! BEAT NAVY!”
Reich does her club swimming with Phoenix Swim Club and placed fifth in the 100m back at Phoenix Sectionals back in March after earning bronze in both backstroke events at Arizona Seniors. Last summer, she was the 100m back runner-up at Boise Sectionals where she also took fourth in the 200m back.
Her best times include:
- 100 back – 55.84
- 200 back – 2:00.61
- 100 free – 52.77
- 200 free – 1:52.90
Under head coach Brandt Nigro, the Black Knights finished second at the 2024 Patriot League Championships. Reich’s best time in the 100 back is already fast enough to qualify for the A-final at the conference level.
