NEW COMMIT: The University of Louisville has received a new verbal commitment for the 2024-25 season and beyond from Avery Karl of Shawnee Mission, Kansas.

She will join Camden Doane, Camille Murray and Caroline Larsen in The Ville as a member of the Cardinals’ Class of 2028.

Regarding her commitment, she said:

“I am EXTREMELY excited to announce my verbal commitment to The University of Louisville! I want to thank my family, current coaching staff, teammates, friends, and future coaching staff for this amazing opportunity! I’m so excited for the next four years at the VILLE! GO CARDS”

A talented sprint freestyler and butterflyer, Karl does her club swimming with Empire KC Swim Club.  She most recently competed in the 50m free at Phillips 66 Nationals, taking seventh in that event at the TYR Pro Swim Series in Knoxville back in January.

She won the 50 free at Juniors West in December and earned four gold medals in the 50/100 free and 50/100 fly at Columbia Sectionals in March.

Her best times include:

  • 50 free – 22.11
  • 100 free – 49.16
  • 50 fly – 24.04
  • 100 fly – 53.63

Karl will add some serious speed to an already-stacked Louisville roster; She would’ve ranked fifth in the 50 free and sixth in the 100 free on the Cardinals’ roster a season ago.
