Avery Catalano of Upper Arlington Swim Club Chooses Miami Ohio
NEW COMMIT: Miami University of Ohio has received a new verbal commitment for the 2022-23 season and beyond from Futures qualifier Avery Catalano of Columbus, Ohio.
She will join Mady Backmeier, Caitlin Horn, Brooke-Lynn Clark and Audrey Conley as a member of the RedHawks’ Class of 2026.
She told Swimming World:
“I am very excited to announce my commitment to swim and study at Miami University! Huge thanks to my family, coaches, friends and teammates who made this happen. I can’t wait to be a part of this team!”
A talented sprinter and breaststroker, Catalano trains year-round with Upper Arlington Swim Club and most recently collected three silver medals at the Ohio LCM Championships last month. Back in December, she raced to 16th in the 100 breast at the 18&U Winter Championships – Oxford.
Her best times include:
- 50 free – 23.91
- 100 free – 51.41
- 200 free – 1:51.52
- 100 breast – 1:04.85
Also competing for Upper Arlington High School, Catalano placed ninth in the 200 free as a junior at the Ohio State Championships. A week prior, she finished fourth in both the 100 and 200 free at the DI District Championships.
Under head coach Hollie Bonewit-Cron, the RedHawks finished third at the 2021 MAC Championships.
