BRISBANE, Australia, May 2. TWO-time Olympic gold medalist Jessicah Schipper survived an emergency surgery this weekend after being rushed to the hospital Sunday night, according to the Herald Sun.
Schipper, who had “extreme abdominal pain” according to the article on Sunday night, was diagnosed with the need to remove her appendix. Surgeons, however, discovered that she had a ruptured cyst on her ovary during surgery, which they then repaired.
“It was a bit of a whirlwind experience but I'm good now,” Schipper told the Herald Sun. “I'm not allowed to do anything for a week. I just have to lay down and play it quiet … I'm allowed to build into training depending on how I feel. I will just take it as I go.”
Schipper's participation in a national team trip to the Santa Clara International Invitational later this month is in question.
