Austin To Austin: Texas Scores 2026 Verbal From Austin Carpenter

NEW COMMIT: The University of Texas has begun its Bob Bowman era with its first public verbal commitment for the Longhorns’ Class of 2030, from Dublin, Ohio native Austin Carpenter.

Carpenter is currently the fastest 100 breaststroker and 100 freestyler in his class.

Regarding his commitment, he said:

“It is with humility and honor that I announce my verbal commitment to further my academic and athletic careers at the University of Texas! I want to thank the Lord and all the support I have gained from my family, friends, teammates, and teachers, as well as Coach Kyle, Coach McKinley, Coach Lopresti, and Coach Eric. I would like to also thank Coach Bowman, Coach Erik, and Coach Trevor for entrusting me with the winning tradition of Texas. HOOK ‘EM”

Carpenter trains year-round with Central Ohio Aquatics. He finished fifth in the 100 breast, eighth in the 100 free and 11th in the 50 free at Juniors East last December. Most recently, he competed at Speedo Summer Championships where he had a pair of top-15 finishes.

His best times include:

  • 50 free – 19.94
  • 100 free – 43.83
  • 200 free – 1:36.21
  • 100 breast – 53.70
  • 200 IM – 1:48.52

Currently a junior at St. Charles Preparatory School, Carpenter won the 100 breast and took second in the 200 free at the 2024 Ohio Division I State Championships. He earned bronze in the 100 breast and took seventh in the 50 free at the state meet during his sophomore season.
