Auburn Takes 200 Free Relay

Auburn's team of Matt Busbee, Aaron Ciarla, Oswaldo Quevedo and Greg Busse overtook California on the last leg to defend its title in the 200 free relay in a tight race. The top three finishers were again all under the previous world best of 1:26.99, set in 1998 by the Netherlands.
Auburn's 1:25.14 was slightly slower than its world best of 1:24.83, set in the morning. California was second in 1:25.21 with Arizona third in 1:26.74.
Arizona sophomore Roland Schoeman, from South Africa, led off in a new world record, posting a blistering 21.28. California freshman Anthony Ervin again bettered his American record from the morning in the lead-off, with a 21.32.
