Auburn Swimmer Reid Mikuta Arrested on Allegations of Rape
Auburn swimmer Reid Mikuta was arrested on Tuesday on suspicion of rape, according to reports out of Alabama.
Mikuta was booked in Lee County, which contains Auburn’s campus, under the name Christopher Reid Mikuta. He was indicted in August by a grand jury over an incident on Dec. 9, 2022, in which he is alleged to have “engage(d) in sexual intercourse with a member of the opposite sex who was incapable of consent by reason of being physically helpless or mentally incapacitated.” The indictment was filed on Sept. 1.
Mikuta is a rising senior at Auburn. The native of Greensboro, N.C., finished 10th in the 100 breaststroke at NCAAs last year and led the Tigers’ relays to a pair of top-12 finishes in the medleys. He finished 23rd in the 100 breast at Nationals this summer, his only event in the World Championships trials meet.
