Auburn Picks Up 7 More NCAA “B” Cuts
Tigers Pick Up Seven More NCAA Times at Orange & Blue Classic – Feb. 9, 2003
AUBURN, Ala., Feb. 9. THE Auburn men's and women's swimming and diving teams combined to pick up seven more NCAA consideration times as the Tigers competed in the Orange and Blue Classic, an age-group meet held at the James E. Martin Aquatics Center from Friday, Feb. 7 through Saturday, Feb. 8.
Leslie Lunsmann picked up her first two provisional times of the season as the freshman clocked a 55.75 in the 100-yard butterfly and a 2:04.30 in the 200 IM.
Other women who added to their provisional times were Kirsty Coventry in the 200 freestyle (1:49.83) and Maggie Bowen in the 100 breaststroke (1:02.76).
For the men, Nate Knopf earned his first provisional time of the year, stopping the clock at 15:26.15 in the 1650 freestyle, the Tigers' first NCAA time in that event.
Ryan Wochomurka dropped his time in the 100 back to
49.10 while James Galloway lowered his time in the 200 IM to 1:48.98.
The Tigers are done with competition until they play host to the 2003 Southeastern Conference Swimming and Diving Championships from Feb. 19-22. Tickets still remain and can be purchased by calling 1-800-AUB-1957.
