Auburn Jumps Into 2022 Recruiting with In-State Verbal from State Champ Drew Jordan

NEW COMMIT: Spanish Fort, Ala. native Drew Jordan has decided to remain in-state for his college career after verbally committing to Auburn University beginning in the fall of 2022.

He is the Tigers’ first verbal for their Class of 2026.

Regarding his commitment, he said:

“Blessed beyond belief to announce my verbal commitment to Auburn University. I want to thank my family for supporting me to this chapter in my life and to the coaching staff at CMSA for giving me the opportunity to do this. I’d like to thank everyone on the coaching staff at Auburn for giving me this opportunity. War Eagle !?”

A rangy freestyler, Jordan does his club swimming with City of Mobile Swim Association and owns several Junior National standards. He last competed at Cary Sectionals where he was the 400m free runner-up while taking third in the 200m free and 500 free after taking second in the latter event at the Southeastern SCY Championships.

Last summer, he achieved five best times at the Southeastern LCM Championships where he raced to second place in the 1500m free. Jordan then went on to earn silver in the 400m free and bronze in the 800m free and 1500m free at Greensboro Futures.

His best times include:

  • 100 free – 46.28
  • 200 free – 1:39.00
  • 500 free – 4:26.99
  • 1000 free – 9:22.80
  • 1650 free – 15:36.24

A current junior at Daphne High School, Jordan is already a four-time Alabama 6A-7A State Championship finalist. He won the 200 free and 500 free as a sophomore while taking third and second, respectively, in those events during his freshman season. He helped his team to a second-place finish in both 2018 and 2019 as well.
