FORT LAUDERDALE, Florida, September 11. BRETT Hawke, the head coach of Auburn University, became a U.S. Citizen yesterday after completing all of the naturalization requirements.
"I'm thrilled to be an American citizen because it opens the door for me to fulfill a goal I've had since I started coaching and that is to be on the U.S. Olympic Coaching Staff," Hawke told Swimming World. "I want to help America bring home medals from London."
Having Hawke on the U.S. team should certainly help the Red, White and Blue going forward as Hawke has created some of the greatest threats to U.S. dominance in the sport during the past few years with swimmers like Cesar Cielo and Fred Bousquet training under him at Auburn.
