Auburn Adds Two Verbals From William Heary, Avery Henke For Class of 2027

NEW COMMIT: Auburn University has received a pair of verbal commitments for the 2023-24 season and beyond from Sarasota, Florida native William Heary and Avery Henke of Lafayette, Louisiana.
Both talented swimmers will join Andrew Billitto as a member of the Tigers’ Class of 2027.

Regarding his commitment, he said:
“I’m excited to announce my verbal commitment to Auburn University. I like to thank my parents, coaches and friends for helping me along the way. War eagle!”
Heary trains year-round with Sarasota Tsunami Swim Team and placed fifth at the Speedo Winter East Championships earlier this month while achieving a total of three best times. He also finished seventh and 10th, respectively, in the 100m and 200m breast at Huntsville Futures back in August. Currently a junior at Sarasota High School, he finished second in the 100 breast and sixth in the 100 fly at the 2020 FHSAA 3A State Championships.
His best times include:
- 100 fly – 49.88
- 100 breast – 54.43
- 200 breast – 1:58.36
- 200 IM – 1:48.24
AVERY HENKE

Regarding his commitment, he said:
“I love the culture at Auburn. I felt at home among the coaches and team. Together, we will rise to greatness.” WAR EAGLE!!!”
Henke does his club swimming with Crawfish Aquatics and most recently raced three events at the Speedo Winter East Championships. This past summer, he posted four top-6 finishes at Louisiana LCM Seniors, including a third-place showing in the 100m breast. Also competing for Teurlings Catholic High School, Henke won the 100 breast and 200 IM at the LHSAA DIII Championships this past season.
His best times include:
- 100 breast – 54.96
- 200 breast – 2:03.51
- 100 back – 49.58
- 200 back – 1:49.63
- 200 IM – 1:51.10
- 100 fly – 50.12
- 100 free – 46.23
- 50 free – 21.35
