Associated Press Reporting Scott Blackmun to Be Named USOC CEO Tomorrow
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colorado, January 5. WITH the United States Olympic Committee (USOC) announcing that a press conference to name its new Chief Executive Officer would take place tomorrow, the Associated Press broke news that Scott Blackmun will be the person hired for the top spot.
Blackman, who has been an interim CEO for the USOC from February to November of 2000, will take over for Stephanie Streeter. Blackmun is an attorney in Colorado Springs, who is well known to most of the USOC staff.
Blackmun was chosen over USA Swimming CEO Chuck Wielgus, who had originally been a front-runner for the position based on off-the-record conversations Swimming World has had since his name was first attached to the opening.
