Ashley Slayton Gives Verbal Pledge to Alabama Crimson Tide
NEW COMMIT: Winchester, Tenn. native Ashley Slayton has verbally committed to the University of Alabama and will join the Crimson Tide as a member of the class of 2023.
Swimming for Manchester Makos Swim Team, Slayton concluded the summer season with a pair of lifetime bests at the NCSA Championships in August after finaling in four events with 100 percent best times at the Southeastern LCM Championships a week prior. At the Southeastern SCY Championships in February, Slayton was the 400 IM runner-up and made four additional finals appearances.
A four-time Tennessee State Championship finalist for Franklin County High School, Slayton finished fifth in the 500 free and sixth in the 200 free as a junior. She competed in the 200 free during both her freshman and sophomore seasons as well.
She told Swimming World:

- 100 free – 52.41
- 200 free – 1:50.96
- 500 free – 4:58.54
- 200 IM – 2:08.00
- 400 IM – 4:27.94
Slayton will join a talented freestyle group when she arrives in Tuscaloosa for the 2019-20 season that includes Julia Kukla, Leonie Kullman and Lydia Jackson. Alabama had their first dual meet against Delta State on Sept. 14 and begin the season with a 1-0 record.
