Ashley George, Abby Szadorski Announce Verbal Commitments to Eastern Michigan

NEW COMMITS: Eastern Michigan University has added two new verbal commitments for the 2021-22 season and beyond from Waukesha, Wis. native Ashley George and Abby Szadorski of Aurora, Ill.

Both talented swimmers will join Emily Brown as a member of the Eagles’ class of 2025. Under head coach Derek Perkins, EMU  finished third overall in the team standings at the 2020 MAC Championships.

ASHLEY GEORGE

Regarding her commitment, she said:

“I am so excited to announce my verbal commitment to continue my academic and athletic careers at Eastern Michigan University! Thank you to my family, coaches, and friends who have helped me through this journey. Can’t wait to be a part of this amazing team ??”

George, who does her club swimming with Waukesha Express Swim Team, placed fifth in the mile and ninth in the 1000 free at the Wisconsin 13&O State Championships in March. Last summer, she had three top-5 finishes at Wisconsin LCM States before going on to earn two best times at NCSAs.

Her best times include:

  • 200 free – 1:53.49
  • 500 free – 5:03.82
  • 1000 free – 10:19.31
  • 1650 free – 17:24.00

Also competing for Waukesha South/Mukwonago Co-Op, George is a four-time Wisconsin DI State Championship finalist. She placed eighth in the 500 free and 12th in the 200 free as a junior while taking 12th and 13th, respectively, in those events during her sophomore season.

ABBY SZADORSKI

Regarding her commitment, she said:

“I’m beyond excited to announce my verbal commitment to swim and study at Eastern Michigan University!! I would like to thank my family, friends, coaches, and teammates for their constant support and helping me get to this point! Can’t wait to be an eagle!??”

Szadorski swims year-round with Delta Aquatics and earned a best time in the 400m IM at Minneapolis Sectionals last summer before going on to have a strong showing at Des Moines Futures. She also raced seven events at NCSAs in March 2019.

Her best times include:

  • 200 IM – 2:06.81
  • 400 IM – 4:26.57
  • 100 breast – 1:04.89
  • 200 breast – 2:21.80

A current junior at Oswego Co-Op, Szadorski has competed at the Illinois State Championships all three years of her high school career thus far. As a junior, she finished fifth in the 200 IM and 10th in the 100 breast at the IHSA Neuqua Valley Sectional Championships.
