ASCA Announces Finalist for Age Group Coach of the Year
One of the 10 finalists for Age Group Coach of the Year, awarded by the American Swim Coaches Association, will be announced as the winner at the upcoming ASCA convention, scheduled for early September in Dallas. The award is based off results from a coach’s 9-10 and 11-12 swimmers over a one-year period stretching from May 1, 2022 to April 30, 2023.
Previously, ASCA announced the top 50 age group coaches of the year and then selected a list of 10 finalists from that larger group. Last year’s winner, MC Banks from NOVA of Virginia, was one of the top 100 but not a finalist this year. The list of candidates includes Shannon Cowley, Joe Finke, Chrissy Gentry, Rod Hansen, Reed Miller, Matt Paige, Brian Pager, Josh Poorman, Doug Reed and Gabi Sofia.

The American Swimming Coaches Association (ASCA) and Fitter & Faster Swim Camps are pleased to announce the TOP 10 AGE GROUP COACHES OF THE YEAR FOR 2023.

The Top 10 age group coaches were selected based on USA Swimming’s National Rankings data from May 1, 2022 through April 30, 2023 for both LCM and SCY for 11-12 and 9-10 age groups. Coaches received bonus points for number of swimmers with a #1 ranking, and for number of different swimmers ranked.
