Arno Kamminga – the man who loves to race – twice more went sub-59 over 100m breaststroke at the weekend at the 2022 Heidelberg Q! Cup.

The double Olympic silver medallist went 58.68 in the 100m breaststroke heats – splitting 27.48/31.20 –  before returning to touch first in the final in 58.85.

Kamminga tops the world rankings with a time of 58.52 from the Eindhoven Meet in February, the Netherlands swimmer the only man to have cracked 59 so far this year.

Michael Andrew went 59.05 at the Pro Swim Series in March to sit second although this week promises some intriguing action with Olympic champion Adam Peaty going in the British Championships and bronze medallist Nicolo Martinenghi in the Italian equivalent while the Eindhoven Qualification Meet starts on Thursday.

On Sunday, Kamminga went 2:08.22 in the 200br prelims and 2:08.83  in the final with the former the third-fastest time of 2022 so far.
