Army Picks Up 2026 Verbal From Bolles’ Michael Gumino

NEW COMMIT: U.S. Open qualifier Michael Gumino of Saint Augustine, Florida, has announced his verbal commitment to the United States Military Academy at West Point beginning in Fall 2026.

He’s the first public verbal commitment for the Army men’s Class of 2030.

Regarding his commitment, he said:

“I am so blessed and honored to announce my verbal commitment to continue my academic and swimming journey at the United States Military Academy at West Point! I would like to thank God, my family, and all of the coaches that have helped me achieve this lifelong dream of mine. GO ARMY BEAT NAVY”

Primarily a butterflyer, Gumino does his club swimming with Bolles School Sharks. He capped off his summer long course season at the Florida Senior Championships where he finished second in the 200m fly and fourth in the 100m fly. He took seventh in the 200 fly at Florida Seniors back in the spring.

His best times include:

  • 100 fly – 50.15
  • 200 fly – 1:47.83
  • 200 free – 1:41.52

Gumino is currently a junior in high school at Bolles School.

Under head coach Brandt Nigro, the Black Knights finished second in the team standings at the 2024 Patriot League Championships.
