Arkansas State Record Holder Claire Hyatt Gives 2021 Verbal to Kansas Jayhawks
NEW COMMIT: The University of Kansas has recently scored their third verbal commitment for the growing class of 2025 from Little Rock, Ark. native Claire Hyatt.
She will suit up for the Jayhawks along with Elliott Howe and Karla Lessing at the start of the 2021-22 season. Under head coach Clark Campbell, the Jayhawks finished second at the 2020 Big 12 Championships.
Regarding her commitment, she said:
“I’m super excited to announce my verbal commitment to The University of Kansas!! I’ve loved getting to know the coaches and swimmers and I know it will be a perfect fit for me! Rock Chalk!”
Primarily a sprint freestyler and backstroker, Hyatt does her club swimming with The Aquakids, Inc. and is a Futures qualifier. She collected four silver medals at Arkansas Seniors in January and achieved a best time at Jenks Sectionals last summer.
Her best times include:
- 50 free – 23.54
- 100 free – 52.11
- 50 back – 26.44
- 100 back – 57.75
Also competing for Central Arkansas Christian High School, Hyatt is a six-time Arkansas 1-4A State Championship finalist. She earned gold in both the 50 free and 100 back as a junior and also owns the Arkansas State Record in the 50 free and 100 back, as well as a member of the 4×50 free relay and 4×100 free relay.
