Arizona State Secures 2022 Verbal Commitment from Futures Champion Parker Reynolds

NEW COMMIT: Arizona State University has landed their first verbal commitment for the fall of 2022 from Olympic Trials qualifier Parker Reynolds of Santa Maria, Calif.

Regarding his commitment, he said:

“I’m excited to announce my verbal commitment to Arizona State University. Thank you to my family and friends for getting me to this point in my life. Go devils!”

Reynolds, who owns the Trials cuts in the 800m/1500m free, trains year-round with Santa Maria Swim Club and last competed at the San Diego Imperial Senior Classic where he won the 500 free and notched five best times. He raced four events at the Toyota U.S. Open and finaled in the 400m free at the TYR Pro Swim Series – Knoxville.

In summer 2019, he swept the 400m, 800m, and 1500m free at Mount Hood Futures before going on to place 16th in the 400m free at Junior Nationals.

His best times include:

  • 200 free – 1:42.50
  • 500 free – 4:25.91
  • 1000 free – 9:30.04
  • 1650 free – 15:30.07

Currently a junior at Righetti High School, Reynolds placed 11th in the 500 free at the CIF State Championships as a freshman. The week prior, he finished second in that event as well as eighth in the 200 free at the CIF Central Section Championships.

When he suits up for the Sun Devils as a member of the Class of 2026, Reynolds will add his talents to a distance group that’ll include Lleyton Plattel and Gordon Mason. Arizona State is currently redshirting this season after coming off an unofficial seventh place finish at the 2020 NCAAs before the meet was cancelled to slow down the COVID-19 pandemic.
