Arizona State Opens 2025 Recruiting With Verbal From European Junior Record Holder Nikolett Padar
NEW COMMIT: Arizona State University has landed a big verbal commitment for Fall 2025 from Nikolett Padar of Szeged, Hungary. She’s the first public verbal commitment for the graduating Class of 2029.
Regarding her commitment, she said:
“I’m so excited to announce my verbal commitment to continue my athletic career and studies at Arizona State University! A huge thanks to @coach_bowman , my family, coaches, teammates and friends for supporting and helping me through this journey! Can’t wait to be a Sun Devil, Forks Up!😈🔱 #sundevils #forksup”
This past summer, Padar won the 200m free and 400m free at European Junior Championships while also taking fifth in the 100m free. She then broke the European Junior record in the 200m free at the World Championships in a blazing 1:56.55.
In 2022, she won the 100m free and 200m free at World Junior Championships after winning that combo at European Juniors.
She trains year-round with Szegedi Úszó Egylet.
In LCM, her best times include:
- 100 free – 54.69 (47.82)
- 200 free – 1:56.55 (1:42.11)
- 400 free – 4:08.06 (4:37.93)
In SCY, those times convert to:
- 100 free – 47.89
- 200 free – 1:42.34
- 500 free – 4:38.03
Padar is undoubtedly a huge get for the Sun Devils, who will be in the Big 12 Conference by her arrival on campus. Her best time, converted to yards, is already fast enough to have won the title at the 2023 NCAA Championships, and she would’ve scored in the 500 free and 100 free as well.
